LAW3037   Gender, sexuality and law   (20 credits)

Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F6

Description

The module focuses on how the law engages with individuals' gender and sexuality. The main goal is to encourage students to develop the ability to think critically about the legal regulation of gender and sexuality. On the one hand, the module will cover the substantive areas of women's rights, gender equality and LGBT rights. On the other hand, the module will offer theoretical tools to allow for critical legal thinking. In addition to a liberal 'human rights' approach to these topics, students will engage with Feminism(s) and Queer Theory, as theoretical perspectives for thinking about the law.
